Upon acceptance, you will have the option to customize your Character Creation Sheet (CCS). You will have 48 hours after you have received the CCS to fill it out according to the instructions provided in the How-To Guide. Take this into consideration before you write and submit your backstory.
To increase the immersiveness of roleplay through character creation, please be detailed and thorough with your backstory creation. When it comes time to fill out your CCS, your character’s skills, merits, and flaws must be representative of the character you wrote in your backstory. If your character has the patience of a saint, you would not select the “Impatient” defect. If your character has never learned to read or write, then you would not select the “Literate” feat. Members of the application team reviewing your CCS will be checking your backstory for the foundation for the skills, defects, and feats that you are selecting.
We hope that the additional realism and detail will help drive roleplay as well as make the roleplay more fair and immersive for all players since no character will be good at everything. Everyone has talents and flaws and so will our characters. These talents and flaws will impact the rate of success for Skill Checks performed with the HUD.
Since the Character Creation System is based upon your character’s backstory, we recommend reviewing the following pages before you begin writing so you have an idea of what details your character backstory should consist of. Also, the most competitive and demanding roles will require the most extensive backstories as those roles will also have a time requirement so please take that into consideration as well.
