For too long, Game of Thrones roleplay communities have earned a reputation for toxicity, cliques, staff favoritism, and cheating.
Here at From the Ashes, we are committed to changing that player experience by providing a safe community that rewards immersion, fair-play, and collaborative story telling as transparently as possible while holding staff accountable to the same standard we expect from players.
It is our hope that the story telling process, strict adherence to the rules, and a participation based leveling system will help encourage players to engage with a diverse group of roleplayers and play fairly.
To help in this endeavor, we have adopted a more tabletop style system with an extensive network of NPCs and an interactive world. Additionally, we are declining to disclose which characters have the capability to bond with dragons. Magic user roles and secretive roles such as spies and the Master/Mistress of whisperers will only be disclosed to the character's player following approval. These changes are intended to decrease metagaming by ensuring that player knowledge is more limited to what their characters would know.
Likewise, after thorough study of the source material, we have devised how we imagine magic, prophecy, and history could impact the current timeline through character exploration so be bold, take risks, and adventure! We want the story to be dynamic, exciting, and the collaborative minds of the brilliant minds that make up the Game of Thrones community.
